North Market in Columbus a feast of the senses
Published: Jul 23, 2009
Columbus' North Market is a true feast of the senses. From the amalgamation of colors to the tempting smells of fresh pineapples and peaches, the North Market has something for everyone.
Like any farmers market, the North Market offers an astounding array of both locally-grown and imported produce. From South American bananas to watermelons from a nearby farm, patrons can truly taste the earth at North Market.
But fresh, delicious produce isn't all this versatile market has to offer. Exquisite pastries; breads; wines; beers; juices; meats; seafood; dairy; and ethnic prepared foods are available at North Market. There are even shops offering homemade chocolates, candies and specialty popcorn.
The large variety of grocery items makes the North Market an ideal place to do your grocery shopping. While many dread going to the local supermarket to complete the hum-drum task of shopping for family food, the North Market is sure to be an experience that you'll actually look forward to.
The North Market boasts 35 different vendors, each offering something distinct and delicious.
Even if you're not in the mood to shop for groceries, the North Market is a great place for a superb lunch or dinner. Try a bowl of smoky, sassy chili at the Holy Smoke BBQ and Chili Company, or a thick, juicy bratwurst at The Best and the Wurst. If you're looking for something a bit more exotic, try a spicy enchilada at El Paraiso, a bowl of authentic Italian spaghetti at Sarefino's or plate of chicken curry from Flavors of India.
Be sure to take home a bottle of delicious wine from the Grapes of Mirth or some organically-brewed beer from Bubbles.
The market is open Tuesday – Friday 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Saturday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; and Sunday from Noon – 5 p.m. The market is also open on select Mondays from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
There is a parking lot on site, and cost is .25 cents per quarter-hour, for a maximum of 2 hours with a validation stamp from any North Market vendor.
