Published: Oct 25, 2009

Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus is a popular destination for children and adults alike. Indulge in vibrant colors, eclectic art and breathtaking botany at this one-of-a-kind institution. Exotic plant life, light and glass art are the mainstay of the conservatory, which lures visitors from all over the country.

The Conservatory boasts five main exhibits, all of which are included with general admission. Orchid Forest, which showcases hundreds of vibrant, colorful exotic flowers, stocked koi and reflection ponds, waterfalls and beautifully maintained indoor grounds will open again in January 2010. This popular exhibit is a perfect getaway during the harsh cold of winter months.

Blooms and Butterflies shows off thousands of exotic plants and flowers and colorful butterflies from all over the world. Watch the magnificent creatures flutter right over your head, sometimes landing on your shoulder or sleeve in search of sips of sweet nectar. The kids really love this one!

The earth exhibit teaches little ones and adults alike how beautiful and magical the earth really is by showing them the large variety of trees, plants and environments that are found throughout the planet. Watch trickling streams and magnificent evergreens as you can admire the beauty of nature in all its glory.

Be sure to stop by the Dale Chihuly exhibit. An artist who works only with glass, the colors and shapes of Chihuly's creations are breathtaking to say the least. After viewing his amazing works, stop into the Conservatory shop, where many of his unique creations are on sale to the public.

Parking is on-site and free for all visitors. For more information, visit the Franklin Park Conservatory website.
