“Fort Hayes is a wonderful arts-based school with extraordinarily talented students, committed teachers, and it is a centerpiece of the urban Columbus community. I am proud to be a volunteer there and love what I learn every time I go.”

“I am a student at fort Hayes high school and it one of the best school in Columbus Ohio. With ever school there are its ups and downs but overall the ups outweigh the bad. Fort Hayes is for the art student or the academic student. If your child is not into the arts or a higher level of learning it s not for them. Teachers are hard but caring and will help your child find their own way.”

“Horrible. No parent-to-teacher communication. My calls are never returned and I don't feel that my presence is welcomed when I make visits to the school. I have always been involved with my children and every school they have attended until this school. When my first child arrived at Fort Hayes, he had excellent teachers and an excellent principal, by graduation I was ashamed to even have Fort Hayes on his diploma.”

“Ft Hayes Arts and Academic High School was rated one of the top schools in America by U.S. News and World Report. We received Silver the same as CAHS and above many suburban schools. We are an outstanding program for students that attend for the right reasons - this is an Arts and Academic High school and our Extra-curricular programs are curricular and these art programs have won many local, state, national and international award. This is not a school for students that do not want to be involved in the arts. Hundreds (around 800) of students apply for 175 9th grade positions.”

“I graduated from Fort Hayes in 2002. That was under a different principal so I don't know about how it is now, but when I went it was THE BEST high school in Columbus. The teachers are without a doubt the best. They are passionate about their subjects and their students. It has the highest standards in the district, so a lot of kids leave after the first year because they can't handle it. It is not a good place for uninteresting kids either. The student has to be interested in Art or Music or Drama or Architecture, or else they won't fit in and make friends. Unless you want to pack up and run for the suburbs, send your kids to FHHS! Note:There is a difference between Fort Hayes Arts and Academics High School and Fort Hayes Career Center. Know the difference when researching or talking about the school.”

“I think enrolling my child into Fort Hayes was one of the worst decisions I have ever made. I can never get in touch with the teaching staff or the principal Mr. Ruffin. I never know what my child assignments are because most of the teachers don't participate in Edline. My child is once again failing and even though I call the school I can not get a teacher to return my so that I can find out where my child is going wrong!”

“Fort Hayes MEC High School is an inviting safe place for kids to learn. There is a large diversity there between the teachers and students. The students have the opportunity to be involved in clubs that teach discipline and they also have clubs that teach tolerance for other genders, sexuality, races, and so on. The teachers at Fort Hayes are very friendly people. They strive to help you achieve your goal, the problem students have with them is that they do not tell you the answer, because that's not what they're there for. they are there to teach and help students and that's what they do. Fort Hayes is a wonderful school for any and all students.”

“Wiley is a great school for learning languages. From Kindergarten to second grade, it is a wonderful school. However, third grade on up, it is really lacking strong teachers and in particular, math. Also, the great feeling of internationalism is not injected into the arts nor the music. This makes for a very dull school as the children get older.”

“Horrible communication with teachers. I have asked and asked to have communication with the teachers becasue my child tends to slack in turing assignements and no matter how much i plead the teachers will not warn me when my child is unsuccessful. I am not the only parnet struggling with the schools communications.”

“My daughter goes to Fort Hayes and I love the level of academic expectations. She is required to work and must work hard. The only area that is difficult is the lack of extracurricular activities. They need to focus on bringing more activities that are social as well as academic.”

“My daughter graduated from Fort Hayes Education Center for grades 9-12. She loved the school and her teachers. The teachers and guidance counselor were wonderful and encoraged her to be all that she can be. she graduated in 2003, second in her class as a salutatorian. The teachers and gudiance counseler encouraged her to take advantage of the post secondary education and she did. She attended Columbus State Community College while in high school and this allowed her to enter college with 29.5 credit hours. She is now in her second year of college and is a Junior by credit hours. So this is a wonderful school that has wonderful opportunities in academics and arts.”

“My daughter went to Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center for grades 9-12 and is now in college. I thought the school tried very hard to provide an education in both the arts and in academics, and encourage students to excel in high school. They were also very good about supplying post-secondary education counseling and helping students apply for colleges, and obtain scholarships, grants and financial aid. I would recommend this school highly.”

“This school is outstanding because of its combination of college prep curriculum and vocational training. The school is also very parent friendly in that when you child is a student there, you will have access to their grades via the internet. Whenever a grade is updated for my son, I receive an email notification. Being a single mother, it is very difficult at times, to take off of work to visit the school physically and being able to keep up with my son's grades and school activities via email is wondreful! I am also able to communicate with his teachers via email!”
